Forgive me as I do this,
I know not what I do,
Through my facade of strength
I cannot hide I miss you.

A lifetime has gone by,
I have not seen your face,
distant I have been
but still I miss that place.

I long to hear your clever wit,
and to see your pleasant smile,
as I lay alone in my bed,
I want to hold you for a while.

would you allow me that,
that small harmless notion,
let me feel your heat,
to embrace my emotion.

So far away you are,
never shall I touch your fingers
but what I feel here today
is a passion that forever lingers.

:icondistopia:
This is a very loving and sad poem. Well written. It reminds me of If You Were Coming In the Fall by Emily Dickenson, though the thought is not entirely the same.
